Jim Sherraden
Nashville-based master printer Jim Sherraden has been an active printmaker since the 1980s, and has spent much of his career affiliated with Nashville design shop Hatch Show Print. The Morris Museum of Art describes Sherraden’s tenure at the shop as one that, “oversaw its transition from a cultural survivor of the mid-twentieth century to its current status as a widely recognized graphic design house and destination for letterpress enthusiasts.” Sherraden’s artistry includes monoprinting, woodcut printmaking, and paper quilting. His work is regularly exhibited throughout the US, and in 2013 he was the recipient of the state of Tennessee’s Governor’s Arts Award, receiving the Distinguished Artist Award. Sherraden is the co-author of Hatch Show Print: The History of a Great American Poster Shop, released in 2001. Since 2016, Sherraden has been a longstanding collaborator of musician and artist Jon Langford. Their exhibitions together include 2024’s “Complicated Characters”, and most recently, “Carved and Crafted: The Art of Letterpress”, on exhibition at the LSU Museum of Art from June 12 to September 21, 2025.
